The reason why most people put of weight is because we eat when we don't physically NEED to. And the reason why we do that is because we eat for emotional reasons. We eat to fulfill a need or a void in ourselves.
Diets don't work!
"Repeatedly going on and off diets usually causes weight gain over time, because the bodies metabolism alters. When the person stops dieting and starts eating normally, metabolic efficiency persists and they gain weight rapidly." Trevor Powell (2000)
It's a familiar story of not being happy with our weight so we go on a diet. We spend all week trying to be 'good' and then we get to the weekend and think "well it's the weekend so I'll treat myself". But then we get on the scales and of course we're not happy with the results.
Sometimes we can be so stressed out about wanting to lose weight that it is that very stress that prevents us from losing it.
I put on 2 stone (28lbs) after I had my baby. I got into all the wrong eating habits when I was pregnant (yes I was eating for two, but my baby did not require carrot cake that often!). After trying and failing with diets and gym, I decided to put EFT to the test. Within a few months I'd lost all the baby weight plus a bit more.

Binge Eating
There's a big difference between the occasional over indulgence that we all do from time to time, and Binge Eating Disorder which affects about 2% of the population. Binge eating often leaves people with a sense of losing control over their eating. Binge eating involves eating a large amount of food in a fairly short space of time, leaving the person feeling uncomfortably full and often unwell. Unlike Bulimia people who binge eat don't purge or make themselves sick afterwards and this can lead to weight gain long term.
